Steamed Fish
An iconic Chinese dish and potluck essential.
Warm & bright spice meets traditionally cooked Chinese fish.
The Recipe
Ingredients
3-4 fillets of sea bass, approx. 1.5 lbs
1 cup oil
1/4 tsp garlic
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp sugar
2 tbl ginger julienned
1/4 tsp chicken boullion
1 tbls soy sauce
1 tsp oyster sauce
1 tbl water or chicken stock
2 tsp corn starch + 1 tsp corn starch for sauce
Instructions
- Place the fish on a plate with two large pieces of ginger and green parts 1.5” scallions on the top. Steam for 8-10 minutes or until the fish is cooked through.
- After steaming, discard ginger and scallions and pour out the excess liquid.
- Add half of the julienne ginger and green parts of the scallions on top of the fish.
- Mix water, sugar, light soy sauce, and white pepper and set aside.
- Heat oil on high and add ginger and white parts of the scallion until it sizzles.
- Pour the hot oil over the steamed fish.
- Pour the soy sauce mixture on top.
- Serve and enjoy immediately!
